在“拽人”事件发生后几小时

　　美联航的首席执行官

　　就发表了道歉

但他的道歉信又引起了群众很大的不满

信件大意如下：

这对所有美联航的同事来说是一个难过（upsetting）的事件。我们对不得不“重新安排”（re-accommodate）的乘客们表示歉意。（就是被驱赶的乘客）

我们的团队正紧急配合当局（the authorities）进行调查，也对此事件展开（conduct）细致的自我检查（detailed review）。

同时，我们也正接触（reach out to）这位受害的乘客，并和他直接沟通，争取进一步解决（address and resolve）这个问题。

　　（1）把 having to 改成 choosing to

　　having to 是“不得不”的意思，体现了航空公司的无奈，但改成choosing to，体现了这种野蛮行径并不是“无奈之举”，而是“主动选择”

　　

　　（2）把 re-accommodate 改成 assault

　　re-accommodate 是一个很友好的词，CEO故意把“野蛮行为（savage behavior）”说成“重新安排”，美化自己的意图昭然若揭。

　　assault 是“袭击、攻击”的意思，符合美联航的实际做法。

　　

　　（3）把 customers 改成 human

　　customer 是“顾客”的意思。该词自带光环，现代商业社会中的“顾客”是要被商家供起来的。

　　美联航CEO使用这个词试图让公众觉得他们仍秉持着“顾客就是上帝”的理念。但事实上，从美联航对待顾客的行为中，我们并没有发现他们把乘客当成“顾客”，而是当成了可以随意践踏的、毫无权利可言的“人”。

　　这里把 customers 改成 human 起到了讽刺效果，因为human是描述“人”的最低级的词汇，连 people 都算不上，更别提cusomers了。

　　

　　（4）把 moving with a sense of urgency to work with the authorities 改成 scrambling

　　原文中的说法冠冕堂皇，说自己如何如何配合当局查明真相，但事实上很有可能凭借大企业的身份跟政府打圆场、打太极--这就是“scrambling”的本质。

　　scramle 在牛津词典上的一个解释为：scrambling something means to confuse somebody’s thoughts, ideas. 就是“混淆视听”的意思。

　　

　　（5）把 conduct our own detailed review of what happened 改成 refusing to take full responsibility

　　说自己正在“进行细致入微的自我检讨”。说的好听，自己关起门怎么做，外界根本不知道。“refusing to take full responsibility”（拒绝承担全部责任）揭露出了他们的真实目的。

　　Now that you’ve acknowledged that you’re apologizing, say what you’re apologizing for and why it was incorrect. Be very exact and deive. By fully putting it out there in the open, the person that you’re apologizing to will know that you do really understand what you did.

　　If you want to, though it is not required, you can acknowledge all the hard work and good things that they've done for you in the past. This shows them that you appreciate them and can help show that you really do feel bad about what you've done.

Try phrases like "I sincerely thank you for hearing me out" or "Again, I deeply apologize for the problems my actions caused, and I hope I can work to make it right."
