Describe a journey you can remember well.
You should say:
when it was
where you went
who you went with
and explain why it is special.
In the summer of 2013, I travelled around China with a friend. We travelled in about 11 cities and places. It’s one of the most memorable trips in my life, but I’m not going to talk about the entire trip today. That would take hours. Instead, I’m going to talk about the journey we took from Lijiang to Lugu Lake.
Lugu Lake is at a very remote location deep in the mountains. There’s no other way to go from Lijiang to Lugu Lake except by bus. And the trip is 5 hours long! It’s the longest trip that I’ve ever taken on a coach. We both dreaded the trip before we got on it. As it turned out, it wasn’t nearly as bad as we thought.
First, the ride was smooth because the road condition was good most of the way. But what made the journey special is the group of foreigners we met on the coach. There were four of them. They sat right next to us so we started chatting with each other. We all talked a little about our backgrounds and started playing card games, and before we realised it we were there at our destination. But that’s not the end of the trip. We all signed up for a party on the bus, including a dinner at a local farmer’s house and a bonfire party afterwards, which definitely was the highlight of the journey.
I think that’s the best part of travelling, the people you meet along the way.
